--The Trotsky Archives (Houghton Library, Harvard University).The earliest document in this collection is dated Brest Litovsk 31 January 1918; the last bears the date 17 August 1940, three days before the assassination of Trotsky.The Ar_ chives consist of four parts: Section A: contains about 800 letters and messages exchanged between Trotsky, Lenin, and other Soviet leaders (1918-1922) , and various other unpublished documents; Section B: contains, in twenty_ five dossiers, Trotsky's manuscripts and corre_ spondence up to 1929; Section C: contains, also in twenty_ five dossiers, letters and memoranda from Zi_ noviev, Yoffe, Lunacharsky, Radek, Rakovsky, Preobrazhensky, Sosnovsky, and many others.Most of this correspondence belongs to the period of Trotsky's ex_ ile at Alma Ata.This section also includes many documents relating to the work of the Trotskyist opposition within the Soviet Union; Section D: contains Trotsky's correspondence with groups and members of the Fourth International in various countries.This section is sealed and is not to bemade available for research before 1980.The references to The Archives, which occur in this volume are mainly to Section A.Only in a few instances are documents belonging to Sections B and C referred to.Extensive use of Sections B and C is made by the author in The Prophet Un_ armed, the next volume in this series.Сочинения.(This was planned to be the complete edition of Trotsky's Works, but its publication was discontinued in 1927, at the time of Trotsky's expulsion from the party.The following volumes, published in 1925-1927, were available to the author:T.Ⅱ(частъ 1-ая и чясть 2-ая)Наша Первая революция;T.Ⅲ:(часть 1-ая)От Февраля до октября;(частъ 2-ая)Oт октябpя дoБpecтa;
